Baked a Cake

I was thrilled to make the engagement cake for my loved up work buddy Kim and her fiancé Mike. These little lovebirds held their engagement party earlier this month overlooking a sparkling Lake Macquarie, wooden ladders and boards overflowing with all the good things in life – cheese, wine, champagne… - and the ultimate paella.

I think Kylie may have been the most laid back bride ever, not even her wedding venue falling into Lake Macquarie just 10 days prior to the big day was enough to turn this lovely bride-to-be into a 100 foot tall, Tokyo crushing, Bride-zilla.

While we're not your typical Valentine's Day couple, when I was asked to make a little Valentine's cake for a sweet couple I had to say yes. After trying Simone’s 30^th cake, Anna tried to think of the next occasion she could for a cake – any excuse for a cake! Fortunately Valentine’s Day was just around the corner.

Pink, blue, multicoloured/cheerful, M&M’s, marvellous creations and chocolate. That was the brief and what the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets.

With chocolate overloading the Easter break I decided to make a hot cross bun flavoured cake with a sweet coconut buttercream and super cute bunny ears. Take a look at the recipe by clicking 'read more' :)

The Boy is the by far the biggest kid I know and is always the first one to steal a piece of fairy bread from the table at any kids party we go to. So, it was only fitting that I make him a giant piece of fairy bread for his 29th birthday. 

Happy 29th my love, bring on next year's 30th! 

Last weekend we celebrated the 80th birthday of a very special lady, Mary, the Boy’s beautiful Nan and I was asked to make the cake for the celebration. 

I love a good buttercream cake - especially when working on a mid week cake that I still want to look pretty and taste amazing. 

This pretty blue watercolour cake was for the lovely Alex (check out her cute cake from last year here). Alex is the girlfriend of The Boy’s brother and is a lover of chocolate, especially Maltesers. I had been wanting to try out the watercolour buttercream for a while now and was so glad that I did. 

After a crazy busy month of trips to Melbourne, Wilson’s bunny rabbit cake, 21st cupcakes for The Boy’s sister and a 3 tier Mad Hatter’s Cake, I managed to sneak in a quick cake for Kim’s birthday. 

My little birthday buddy, Wilson celebrated his 2nd birthday last month and I had the pleasure of making his birthday cake.
