Kim and Mike | Copper Drip Engagement Cake
Posted Mar 27th 2016 by Lena
I was thrilled to make the engagement cake for my loved up work buddy Kim and her fiancé Mike. These little lovebirds held their engagement party earlier this month overlooking a sparkling Lake Macquarie, wooden ladders and boards overflowing with all the good things in life – cheese, wine, champagne… - and the ultimate paella.
A few mid week dramas (including a ganache that wouldn’t set up resulting in a horrible mess when trying to cover the cake in fondant – thanks again 30 degree + and incredibly humid days, you really are a peach) and snaps and the boy (sorry my love) and calm down advice from the lovely Vanessa (even after dealing with her own cake dilemmas) made way for a pretty special cake.
The cake itself was a double barrel vanilla and salted caramel swirl butter cake, covered with (an eventually set) white chocolate ganache and white fondant and a oh so shiny copper drizzle. Complete with a gum leaf crown and custom made wooden M+K topper by Communicake It – this cake was the perfect end to the night.
Happy engagement lovelies – can’t wait for the wedding next year! X
