Olivia's Naming Day

Last week I had the pleasure of making a special naming day cake for our friends' little girl, Olivia. The boy was best man at Olivia's mummy and daddy's scorching hot wedding day almost two years ago - thankfully the naming day was much cooler. Olivia's mum Gemma asked if I would be free to make Olivia's cake, and I of course said yes. I love being asked to make cakes for friends, the fact that they trust me with such an important part of their special day means a lot, and having the opportunity to make a pretty, girly, pink cake was too good to pass up.

Gemma sent me a photo of a cake that she liked and I made a few adjustments to make it a little bit different and more personalised. I was also able to try out a few techniques including piping Swiss dots, hand painting and creating blocks and booties. Surprisingly, I was very relaxed making Olivia's cake and even managed to finish and take photos of the completed cake well before bedtime the night before.

The boy acted as cake holder and we set off at the blistering pace of 40kms/hr to the venue to set up for the ceremony. Gemma and Ben said that the cake was just perfect and I even managed to impress the non-cake fans on the day with a yummy vanilla butter cake. Officially, welcome to the world Olivia Grace Robinson. We can't wait to watch you continue to grow.
