I think Henry James said it best - "There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea". Especially when an afternoon tea looks as pretty, and tastes as delicious as these three cakes. If you also get to enjoy your afternoon tea with two talented friends, it is even more agreeable in my books.

I love the rustic and indulgent beauty of these cakes, and the flavour of each one was just a little bit special.

The star of the trio was a take on the classic peanut butter and jelly (jam) sandwich - a delicious vanilla cake studded with raspberries and swirled with crunchy peanut butter, and wrapped in a perfectly pink, raspberry buttercream with a semi-naked finish. Being the star of the tea party, this cake also had two costume changes. Firstly, dusty pink and cream roses gave her a romantic, antique feel. A quick change to the most perfect (and humungous) Dahlia then freshened things up. That Autumn Kisses Floral Design sure knows how to make a cake feel special.

Before long, this pretty solo cake was joined by two friends, a brown butter, chocolate chip mini cake with toasted meringue, rich, oozy chocolate ganache and cookie crumble - the S’mores cake.

Finally, the last mini cake was inspired by a salted caramel piña colada - a sweet and tangy coconut, Malibu and pineapple cake and a filling of pillowy, salted caramel buttercream. Oh, and a salted caramel drizzle!

I think it might be time for a cuppa! Enjoy Life. Sip by Sip.
