Last week was the boy's dad's birthday and they were meeting up for a few hours in Sydney. I couldn't make it but couldn't let him make the trip without a little birthday cake.
This Saturday, the boy and I finally got the chance to visit Newcastle's cutest little cake shop, hello naomi, the shop front owned by the super talented cake decorator Naomi Henderson!
With only one sleep to go until the big man in red makes his way down the chimney you would think that I would be a little bit organised but this year I feel anything but. I am usually feeling pretty relaxed with all my presents wrapped and sitting underneath the tree but this year couldn’t be more different. So what do I do instead of wrap said presents? Bake of course!
This little fire engine was the first cake that I was asked to make for a little boy - had to change my thinking from girly colours and flowers to the brief from Ethan's lovely mum Linda - racing cars, Bob The Builder and fire engines.
After a less than peachy day at work (note to self: lack of sleep + busy and slightly more stressful than normal work + a mean rep will more than likely = tears) and my lovely Cacti had looked after me at work, the boy took me to our favourite restaurant Talulah..
This cake was almost as cute as the little girl it was made for. When my beautiful friend Ali asked if I would make her daughter Ayla's 2nd birthday cake, the answer was of course yes.
As the song says “love and marriage goes together like a horse and carriage” - much like peas and carrots, peonies and spring weddings, and Paris and Adam.
I couldn’t resist these amazing peonies at Woolworths tonight on my way home from work – they also inspired me to share the story of Paris and Adam’s wedding cake with you all.
Cake and flowers - what more could a girl want? Today I thought I would take you back to where it all began with a cute little cupcake bouquet. This little posy was the result of my first lesson at Sugar Rush, and had me hooked.
Don't you just love my pretty new finds? As well as an addiction to stationery and a love of all things pretty, I also have something pretty serious going on with vintage kitchen items. I recently came across these cute little spice cannisters and cake tin. They remind me so much of grandma that I just couldn't pass them up.
Hi my name is Lena and I'm a cake-a-holic. First time blogger, long time cake eater.
In the interest of full disclosure until three days ago I never thought this blog would actually come to fruition but now that it is here I am completely in love.
